This work shows the effect of selected ionic liquids on catalytic performance a Cu/Al2O3 catalyst towards citral hydrogenation. The was prepared using combination wet impregnation and strong electrostatic interaction technique. coated with three liquids, namely: [C4C1Pyrr][OTf], [C2C1C1Im][NTf2], [C2C1Im][NTf2] resulting in Cu-based SCILL catalysts (solid an liquid layer). fresh used were characterized FT-IR spectroscopy thermal gravimetric analysis. All Cu-SCILL stable throughout liquid-phase reactions no leaching being detectable by means TGA. investigated prevented formation undesired isopulegol compared to 30 % selectivity obtained over bare catalyst. (coated 15 wt% [C2C1Im][NTf2]) increased geraniol nerol 340 %.
